progress (of sorts)

Made it through Chapter 4 last night. Charlie D can't make up his mind what a species is, or a variety, and is saying (my paraphrase) that democracy is the order of the day -- if a variety of the species becomes the majority, it becomes the species and the original species becomes the variety.
